Something Different....Modern Couture Bouquets and Accessories

I often times work with brides who are looking for something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and something....DIFFERENT. Even the brides I see who are interested in having a mostly traditional wedding usually want to utilize some things in their wedding that sets it apart from everyone else's wedding. You want you wedding to be different...unusual...unique...memorable.
One way to accomplish this is by carrying a modern, couture bouquet that is created especially for your wedding...with your colors and style taken into consideration.

Here are some examples of the bouquets, bouts, centerpieces, corsages, and fascinators (hair pieces) we have created for other brides. They look awesome when coordinated for a cohesive look. Just think - for about the same cost as flowers (sometimes less) you can keep your bouquet forever! Remember that these can be custom designed to suit your event! Now these feathered items are obviously not for everyone, but if you are looking for a modern, unexpected way to inject some drama and beauty into your wedding, this may be for you!

This first bouquet request came from a bride having a very traditional, upscale wedding. She wanted something that would blend in with the conventional overall look of her wedding, but she also wanted something more exciting than the standard white flower bouquet. We created this bouquet for her using white ostrich feathers around the outside with mostly white goose biots in the center (the long skinny white feathers) acccented by some black goose biots to break up all the white and match the guys' tuxedos. We also added some white pearls and silver beaded accents in the center to dress it up a little. I think it turned out beautiful and the pictures do not even do it justice...you should have seen it in person!

This shows the side of the bouquet. The handle of the bouquet is dressed with black satin ribbon accented by pearl pins. The base of the bouquet is trimmed out with a white maribou boa.

This is a photo of the fascinator we did for the bride's hairpiece. She was actually opting to wear a veil for the wedding ceremony, but wanted to wear something fun and different for the wedding reception since she would be dancing and having fun. We can attach fascinators to snaps, alligator clips, or combs. Many brides are now choosing to attach their fascinators to snaps or alligator clips INSTEAD of combs since the snaps and clips provide more of a no slip grip type hold. The fascinator can also be accented by adding hot fix adhesive gems for an added sparkle.

This next bouquet has been SO popular. After creating the first one in my studio and posting on to our etsy account (Shameless Plug Alert: Visit us at www.byheartandhand.etsy.com to see our designs or submit a special custom request), we have sold several to brides by word of mouth or to brides who found us on etsy, but wanted the design tweaked a little for their weddings. It is truly a beautiful color palette that works great for fall weddings because of the burnt orange color of the feathered flowers. It is also a great choice for outdoor weddings because of the natural wood elements.

This is a sideview of the bleached peacock bouquet. The handle of this one is wrapped in ivory satin ribbon, but for other brides, we have wrapped the handle in black satin, a leopard print satin ribbon, or a chocolate brown ribbon. We can customize to your specifications. We also frequently make smaller version bouquets to be carried by bridesmaids.

The next two photos show the same bouquet style created as centerpieces. There is a side view and a top view. We have created these previously in different base containers as well. This particular one was made to fit inside a cardboard box that had been covered in black cardstock to save money on the containers and make the centerpieces even more affordable for the bride. We try to work with brides to get them an end product they like in the most affordable way.

Below are a few different styles of fascinators that we have sold to brides to coordinate with this bleached peacock bouquet.

This next bouquet was created for a bride having a "rocker theme" wedding with a hot pink and white color scheme. For the center we used a silk flower and some glittered white spindly branches. For the outside we used LARGE hot pink ostrich feathers. Although this would be a bit of an outlandish look for the average bride, this unconventional bride LOVED the finished look.

This is the fascinator we made for this unconventional bride who had absolutely no desire to wear a veil! There are light pink stripped coque feathers in the background topped by a hot pink ostrich feather and another smaller ostrich feather in light pink and white feathers in the foreground. We reproduced this same fascinator for another woman who was wearing it to the Kentucky Derby! How fun!
While I personally had a fairly traditional wedding, I must admit that I LOVE to work with brides who are so eager and excited to personalize their own weddings and make them reflect their personalities even if that means being slightly unconventional. These brides are so fun to work with!
Stay tuned to my blog for the next few days as I will be updating with additional photos of these feathered items...
